Ball State Football Goes Bowling

MUNCIE, Ind – Ball State football has accepted an invitation to play in the Arizona Bowl.

This comes on the heels of a 38-28 victory over Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference championship this past Friday.

However, they will be facing a difficult opponent.

San Jose State (7-0) is ranked No. 19 in the latest AP poll and have defeated Boise State to become Mountain West champions.

The last time Ball State went bowling?

A 2014 loss to Arkansas State in the GoDaddy Bowl.

The team is still looking for its first ever bowl game victory.

Beth Goetz, Ball State Athletic Director, believes the university is proud of the football program’s recent accomplishments.

“This 2020 Ball State football team has made our campus, our community, our alumni and our fans all so proud,”  Beth Goetz said. “Coach Neu, his staff, and our student-athletes are proof of what can be accomplished with a vision, belief, and unwavering commitment. It is clearly evident the joy this team has in playing for one another, and there is no one more deserving of this opportunity than our Cardinals.

The game is set for 2 p.m. Thursday, December 31 at Arizona Stadium in Tucson. It will be televised on CBS and aired on WLBC 104.1.

Fans will not be permitted to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions.
